The Northwest Kidney Council (NWKC) has been busy raising awareness about chronic kidney disease (CKD) and advocating for those facing end-stage renal disease (ESRD) this past March.

The NWKC traveled to Beaverton, Oregon, to participate in the 2025 World Kidney Day Health Fair at the Beaverton Resource Center. It was a fantastic opportunity to connect with the community, increase awareness about kidney health, and share valuable resources with those affected by CKD.

We were particularly grateful to engage with members of the Hispanic dialysis community, providing resources and support to help them navigate their dialysis journey. In Oregon, Hispanic populations are disproportionately affected by kidney disease, facing barriers to diagnosis and treatment. According to National Kidney Foundation, Hispanic individuals are more likely to experience kidney failure, underscoring the urgent need for accessible care and organ donation within this community.

We also had the chance to connect and collaborate with organizations that share our commitment to kidney health, including:

Events like the World Kidney Day Health Fair are a testament to the power of collaboration in driving awareness and providing essential resources. We remain committed to advocating for equitable access to kidney care and supporting those affected by CKD.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by our booth and shared their stories.  We look forward to continuing these important conversations and working together to make a difference.
